Picture it…
You walk into a supermarket, or any shop for that matter, to buy a bottle of wine for
that dinner party you have been invited to. The sheer variety and number of selections available is so overwhelming and intimidating that you don’t know what to do or where to start! You want to arrive at the party with nice wine, but you don’t want to pay a fortune…but then again you also don’t want to get the cheapest wine, because cheap wine is, well, cheap wine!
Been in that situation before? I KNOW, me too! And what usually used to happen to me was that I would end up going for the third (or so) cheapest wine on the shelf, not knowing what it tasted like, and never having heard of it before.
Thankfully, I can now say that those days are in the past, as I have learnt that cheap wine isn’t necessarily “cheap wine”. With over 9 years experience in enjoying wine, and having worked at a well established wine estate for 5 of those 9 years, my knowledge has developed to the extent that I am able to tell a good wine from a bad one. It has been a hobby of mine for the past few years to find good affordable South African wines, because why should we pay a fortune for a good bottle of wine if we can get one that is just as enjoyable at a fraction of the price?
I have been following quite a few wine newsletters and blogs over the last few years, but, to be honest, I have found most of them to be boring, and quite frankly, half the time I don’t know what they are trying to say!
I have therefore decided to share my pearls of wisdom with you, and
compile a newsletter that will guide you in a casual, yet informative
way on various topics related to wine with the main focus of course
being on where to find these value wines. Having said this, I must also
add that I judge purely on my own taste and that I do not use any award
or other wine rating books as a guide. I find that such guides are
often biased and follow the same trend from year to year, even though
wine is incredibly dynamic and constantly changing.
So, if you are interested in receiving my newsletters in future, it’s as easy as filling in your details below! And if you know of anyone else who might be interested, please forward this link to them. Once you have submitted your details, an automatic email will be sent to you and you will have to click on the link provided in this email to confirm and activate your subscription.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and findings with you and am sure that you will enjoy the fascinating facts the wine world has to offer.
Here’s to a
rosé future, a barrel of laughs and to a whole bunch of fabulous stuff!
Cheers
